Jessica opens her eyes. It's nighttime and it's cold.
She's standing in a furcoat in an unknown clearing of land, surrounded by trees.
Far up ahead she can make out the lights of a sprawling city, obscured by the heavy snowfall and dense foliage.
Behind her in the woods she can sense something sinister - and although she doesn't want to - her wild curiosity forces her to turn around. She can see her footsteps emerging from the trees to where she now stands, the snow prints stained with blood.
Jess examines herself to check for wounds and finds nothing. As she puts her hands into the pockets of her jacket, she feels something slice the fatty part of her palm. Carefully she pulls out a bloody scapel. She stares at it for awhile, wondering what's happened, where she is, what she might have done... then drops it into the snow.
She turns toward the city and begins to walk into the woods.

Jessica presses on through the forest toward the distant city lights. Her surroundings feel unexplainably alive and unwelcoming. Whatever it is following her is getting closer, the sound of breaking twigs is growing louder. She picks up her pace.
A dinner party at Amos Tupper's goes cold as attempted murder becomes the main course. After slurping back some of that fine New England Clam Chowder, Jessica becomes drowsy and attempts to move herself to the nearest couch. As the guests begin to slouch in their chairs, through half open eyes, Jessica watches her whole life unravel and finds herself unable to stop what is about to happen.

Jessica arrives at the Cabot Cove library to chaperone a ghost stories reading for children. Although, she didn't count on falling in love with the narrator. Batting her lashes at the 60-something gentleman, her alluring charm seduces him to join her behind the reference section during the break. The kids are left unattended while her decimal system gets "Dewey".
